Energy Efficient Housing Stock

How’s the Prince William Sound Region performing?
Roughly 14 percent of the region’s housing stock has had some modifications to increase energy efficiency. In 2014, the PWSEDD partnered with the Alaska Energy Authority and WHPacific to assess regional energy needs and options to decrease energy costs.

How is this metric determined?
The Alaska Energy Authority assessed the regional housing stock in conjunction with the North Pacific Rim Housing Authority.

Why does this matter?
Increased energy efficiency can help lower the cost of living in the region. Increased energy efficiency of commercial building stock is also a way to reduce the cost of doing business in the region, however, there is no general assessment for this metric.
